I was a camper. I loved camp. I loved everything about it.
I loved the rustic cabins, the friends I made and still cherish. I loved my counsellors, I loved the gooey white bread. I loved the sound of the loons, the smell of campfire. I loved running down the pathways through the forest, I loved the stinky barn where the horses stayed. I loved flashlight tag and raiding the kitchen at night.
When I became a staff member I loved being a role model for the kids. I loved leading sing song and making a camper happy after they had felt sad. I loved days off in the small town and having drinks in the dingy bar. I loved dancing with my friends that I had known since I was a camper. We were there for each other... day in and day out.
Creating this camp stationery with my daughter was another memory that I will keep. She was my art director. She created the questions, picked check boxes because "they are more fun". She wanted bright, bold designs and a space on the back to draw a picture. Each day she couldn't wait to see updates and then signed off on the final proofs.
Camp brings out a love of nature, freedom and new experiences. Even still.
