Vintage valentines bring back so many memories. I remember sitting at the kitchen table and punching them out of a book. Another year, they came in a box with shiny packaging. Always writing my favourites first, so my best friends got my top picks. Yes, sadly I admit, there is a hierarchy when choosing valentines. After all, no one ever knows on the other end... it is your own little secret.
I see the boxes of valentines in the store and I do get a little jealous of kids being able to choose their theme and writing so many little notes. I have been living vicariously through my kids, but it is not cool to give out valentines in grade 7, so I only had half the fun this year.
I never understood why the valentine for the teacher is always bigger.
I loved the envelopes that used to come with valentines. They don't do that anymore. Instead the valentine simply folds in half. This is so not the same, I don't agree with this. The little itty bitty envelopes should be mandatory, and Canada Post should accept those small valentines envelopes through the postal system. Don't you think?
Happy Valentines Day. xo
