The Design Exchange in Toronto is brilliant. Since 1994 it has been showing us the importance of design through exhibitions, competitions, talks, camps and workshops. Not focusing on one discipline, it spans across multiple disciplines including Industrial design, graphic design, fashion, architecture and interiors. All this within a historical masterpiece that was the original location of the Toronto Stock Exchange.
This Friday May 29th is the inaugural DX Design Auction and It is so exciting to be a part of it with Toofifteen. DXDA is a live and silent auction of donated objects from local and international brands and individuals. All proceeds support the educational programs and the Design Exchange curation and permanent collection.
Toofifteen donated a Toosit Pouf for Toronto illustrator Frank Viva to work his magic. Frank is also the author and masterpiece maker of Outstanding in the Rain. His illustrations are amazing and has recently created cover art for the New Yorker. One side of the pouf features hilarious cartoon faces, the other three sides and top are geometric. All created with a black Sharpie, minus a touch of orange around the trim.
This is an event that you won't want to miss. Especially with Tommy Smythe as a host. You know it'll be a night of great design, giggles and conversation.
